Concerts You've Seen

What concerts have you been a party to?

I didn't start really going to concerts until I was 19, but since then I've seen many groups I've enjoyed and still have a great long list of ones I'd like to see.

George Carlin - January/February of '05 I think. I remember thinking that I might not even get to see him because he checked into rehab shortly before the concert date, but got out after a few weeks. I remember being the youngest person there (14) and not even being allowed in at first until my dad proved to them that he'd bought the tickets himself and gave me permission to see it. Great fucking show and I'm happy that I got to see him in person before he died.

Red Hot Chili Peppers - Seen in '06 and just this past year, once with John Frusciante and the other with Josh Klinghoffer. Both excellent shows with a great amount of energy and presence.

Alice In Chains - The first concert I went to after George Carlin, September of '09. Seen at the 9:30 Club, a small venue being a great setting for their first album tour since 1996. Great show, ended seeing them 1 year later at the DC101 Chili Cookoff.

Dickey Betts & Great Southern - Traveled out to Virginia for this in December of '09, seen at a small bar outside of Culpeper I believe. Great show and great fun listening to so many classic Allman Bros. tunes.

Allman Bros. - Seen twice, once in December '10 and again this year in July. Both times with Derek Trucks and Warren Haynes, both times amazing.

Warren Haynes - Seen November '11. Fantastic show.

Soundgarden - Patriot Center June '11 and tickets for their show in January, looking forward to another fun show.

Robert Plant - January '11. Legendary is all I can say.

Stone Temple Pilots - Chili Cookoff '10 headliner, great to see them back.

Pearl Jam - May '10. Amazing show, and loved how they interacted with the audience, it really gave it a more intimate feel than I'd have thought they would've done.

Santana - Duo with Allman Bros. this year. First time seeing him, loved it, hope he comes back.

Sublime with Rome - July '11. Missed most of the show, honestly just okay.

Some I've seen but don't remember the dates of are Pieces of a Dream, Cephas & Wiggins, Jon Mueller, Black Uhuru and Yellowman, but I know I'm even forgetting some more.

Well, for starters, I've worked for about 95% of the bands already mentioned. Honestly, I've probably forgotten more shows than most people go to their whole lives. Every once in a while when I'm looking through my crew shirts, backstage passes, picks, or set lists, I find shit from bands that I've obviously worked for (otherwise I wouldn't have their stuff in my possession, as I only take swag if I worked the show), but have no recollection of having seen. I've seen most major touring acts, repeatedly at times, that have been around in the past 11 years. That's great when you consider the Nightwishes, the Ramms+eins, the Audioslaves, the Jimmy Buffetts, and the Willie Nelsons, but it absolutely sucks donkey dick when you consider the Lady Cacas, the Justin Beavers, the Avril Latrines, and all the jam bands.

I was hoping you'd just list every band in existence.

A load of bands and artists you probably haven't heard of, in venues small and large.

Shania Twain was one of my early gigs my dad dragged me to which you will have heard of, who at least registers on the wank scale.
Jimmy Nail
The Bluetones
Idlewild
The Subways
The Bravery
The Magic Numbers
Embrace
Placebo
Muse including at Wembley and at Lancashire County Cricket ground
James
Snow Patrol
Goo Goo Dolls
David Gray
The Drums
Gaslight Anthem
MGMT
The Courteeners
Kings Of Leon again at LCC
Glasvegas
Electric Six (preceded by Dick Valentine acoustic set at The Blue Cat in Stockport with about ten people present, 3 years in a row)
The Stone Roses first gig on British soil in nearly 20 years at Heaton Park
The Killers

I've actually enjoyed the privilege of some of my favourite little bands turning up as support and managed to enjoy them more than the main band I'd paid to see - notably Mona and White Lies before Kings of Leon and Delays before Embrace. It was pretty cool seeing the Vaccines, the Wailers and Primal Scream before the Roses too and Editors before Muse.

Not really a concert...

My ex-girlfriend got us two tickets to see Robert Plant and the Honeydrippers in the live studio audience of Saturday Night Live on December 15, 1984 as an early birthday present to me.
